Some clients can have a severe, life threatening to certain foods (like peanuts) or environmental allergens such as bee stings.  In these cases, it is important that the client carry an EpiPen with them at all times (if prescribed by a physician).

Anaphylaxis reactions can include:

1. Confusion, headache, or loss of consciousness

2. Swollen eyes

3. Swollen lips or tongue

4. Rapid heart rate

5. Abdominal pain or vomiting

6. Hives

7. Wheezing, cough, or difficulty getting air

8. Bluish lips, tongue or finger nail beds.

You should ALWAYS call 911 immediately following the use of an EpiPen.
